Elton John

Filed under: Uncategorized — culturalfewmet @ 8:24 pm

Elton John claims that there is too much hate in the world and, I gather, hopes to lessen this hate by also announcing that Jesus was gay.

Okay, now it’s my turn to help lessen hate: Elton John is an a**hole.

Some questions:

Is Kevin Smith fat or are Southwest planes narrow?

According to Prsident Obama fat people are a drain on the economy because they strain the healthcare system, so I ask again: Is Kevin Smith fat? If he is, is he a strain on the healthcare system or can he afford to be a drain? Are only poor fat people a drain?

The Olympics – are they still relevant? How come some figure skaters can fall and still get high scores while others do error free routines and get low scores? Are judges biased?

Do the Olympics remind anyone else of the UN? Nice idea whose time is over because it just doesn’t work. I mean we have Arab countries that imprision homosexuals for a little slap and tickle in the UN who end up chairing committees about human rights.

Is it me but most global warming – oh, sorry climate change – arguments seem silly when I am freezing my ass off in Tennessee?

In the Middle Ages we had a mini- ice age, so I ask – where  were the Hummers and SUVs in the Middle Ages?

Should Climate Change be considered a religion, since just like God, you have to take it on Faith? Oh, bu the scientists say blah, blah, blah, and they keep contradicting themsleves and getting caught with bad data and so on and so worth. Just admit it: Green is now a religion and it is on the verge of its own Inquisition.

Olympics opening

Filed under: Uncategorized — culturalfewmet @ 3:20 pm

Is it me or was the opening a pantheist wetdream? Can anyone explain the Gandalf staff moment to me? What I know now about Canada is this-  who cares about the people, it’s nature that counts.

Also, was the chubby white guy rapping or being a poet? Genteel? Yeah, Canadians are genteel. Genteel to extinction. Last night’s opening made me miss China’s Disney-like homage to the state over individualism. Though any event that has Bryan Adams and Nelly Furtado lipsynching can’t be all bad. There is the humor value.

Before the Superbowl the narrative being written by sports writers and anchors was that Peyton Manning was the greatest quarterback ever. Before the Superbowl New Orleans was a great story and America was rooting for them. Four quarters later and Peyton Manning is highly flawed as he is 500 in the playoffs at 9wins and 9 loses and no one is calling him the greatest ever. Next up was New Orleans. Suddenly, this was the forgotten city, ignored by us and treated shabby. (Of course the hundreds of millions of dollars pumped in New Orleans and LA in general is shabby treatment.) New Orleans is finding redemption from Katrina by winning the Superbowl. And Lord Brees walks on water. My head hurts.

Redemption should only come from a sporting event if you are a player who has f*cked up and you score the winning goal, touchdown, et al. New Orleans is not a forgotten city, but it is a fantastic and flawed city with more problems than a storm the size of katrina could wash away.  As for Peyton Manning – he’s a great quarterback, though I’d take Joe Montanna or Tom Brady in the playoffs over him.

Captain America

Filed under: Uncategorized — culturalfewmet @ 9:24 pm

I read where Captain America will be in the USO. Okay, I see that they don’t want to make any money on this one.

Part of the director’s problem is that he thinks the red, white, and blue costume is cliched and has to be explained. The costume frightens them off…come on. Unlike now in the 1940s they actually wanted us to win wars and were patriotic about it. Damn. I wonder if this Captain America will have to address the don’t ask/ don’t tell policy.

Poor President

Now not to be rude, but the president did seem to bask in the glory of being the Left Messiah, so he should have expected to be crucified. If he viewed religion as more than a philosophy, he probably would known this fact.

The Pro Bowl

Filed under: Uncategorized — culturalfewmet @ 2:17 am

Yes, oh yes, the Pro Bowl. America, at least most of America, loves football, so much so that the most boring, half assed display of football, the Pro Bowl, gets an audience. I think I’d rather watch a skills competition than the Pro Bowl.
